Overview[]
Followers of this Unseelie order of romantics are narcissists and peacocks, using their involvements with others as a background against which they can display themselves to best advantage. They use the trappings of courtly love to focus on themselves. The “beloved” is almost an afterthought: a necessary prop that helps them fulfill their role as lover. They play the game of courtly love to the hilt, but care less for the happiness of their consort than for enhancing their own image as unrequited lover, doomed romantic, noble martyr, or whatever role they choose to assume.
