The Chopra-wafadar (Hindi for 'those loyal to Chopra') are a hunter organization backed by IT company XTend Ltd. and its billionaire director, Saviti Chopra, specializing in the illicit and often forceful acquisition of occult knowledge and artifacts within the redworking scene.
History[]
When XTend Ltd.'s original founder Satyavan Chopra suddenly fell ill with a debilitating "blood disease", his wife Saviti spared no expense in attempting to find a cure. Unfortunately, Satyavan's condition defied all conventional medicine, eventually leaving him in a coma that he remains in to this day. Refusing to give up on her love, Saviti seized control of Xtend and poured further millions into medical technology and research. It was this ceaseless quest that led her to unintentionally discover the existence of vampires, uncovering a Nagaraja named Diya Yadav masquerading as a high-level executive within her own company. Noting eerie similarities between Diya's "activities" and the symptoms of her husband's illness, Saviti had Diya captured and interrogated, though at great loss of life on the part of her security team.
While the Hecata did not furnish her captors with precisely "truthful" information, she did give up the location of a Tremere Chantry in Goa in order to spare her own undead hide. The subsequent raid was barely successful, but with it came a treasure trove of information regarding magic and blood sorcery. In the years since, Saviti has developed a team of medical and occult researchers within the upper corporate echelons of Xtend - her wafadar - backed by formidable private security and her own considerable wealth.
Overview[]
Thanks to Saviti Chopra's telecommunications empire, the Chopra-wafadar's reach extends throughout South Asia, the Middle East, East Africa, and Oceania. Picking up on tips and communications through Xtend's mobile and cloud services, the wafadar specifically zero in thaumaturgical or otherwise occult-related marketplaces in a given location, monitoring and infiltrating the movers and shakers of the vampiric "redworking" scene. While they won't hesitate to kill any Kindred who get in their way, the Chopra-wafadar are more interested in looting and studying mystical objects and texts than they are purging the undead.
The stated goal of this supernatural kleptomania is the advancement of humanity through the subversion of "blood magics", but in truth, this organization's leader is only interested in one human in particular. Saviti still desperately searches for anything that could potentially cure her husband of his vampirism. She spares nothing in her quest, not expenses, not employees, and especially not other vampires.
