The Chitra Bhanu purge refers to the elimination of the quantakinesis order in 2109 by the other seven psi orders.

Background[]

Only humans have the latent potential for quantakinesis, which can duplicate some nova-like abilities without the threat of taint. The Doyen did not just trigger proxy S. K. Bhurano; she was possessed by a Doyen observer, to monitor all the Psi Orders, but most particularly the quantakinetics.[1]

As early as 2107, rumors circulated that the Chitra Bhanu were "soft" on Aberrants; minor Aberrants were seen entering and leaving their headquarters in Bombay, and the order was actively researching taint and taint-based illnesses.[2] By 2109, the Doyen concluded that quantakinesis was a failed experiment, and too dangerous to allow to continue. They telepathically manipulated the other proxies into turning on the Chitra Bhanu, while Bhurano called as many of her order back to Bombay as could be reached. The ensuing confrontation turned into a massacre; the Doyen possessing Bhurano slipped away unnoticed.[1]

The pursuit of the remaining quantakinetics lasted into 2110, though rumors of individual survivors and holdouts persist.[3] Ten chibs are secretly working for Norça, as Proxy Giuseppe del Fuego believes quantakinetics is instrumental in the study and eradication of taint. Del Fuego was also highly suspicious of the circumstances of the purge, even though he committed Norça troops to it at the time; he has deduced that Bhurano was being manipulated or controlled, but not yet by whom.[4]

Fanon[]

The fan-made supplement India Underground describes the purge from the perspective of the Chitra Bhanu and explains how several of them escaped capture.
