Cantor Station

Cantor Mining Station was a privately-owned mining operation on Luna. It was destroyed by Aberrants on February 8, 2120, in an incident involving the Huang-Marr Biorg Project.

Overview

Cantor Station was run by the Aeroc Corporation and had a staff of roughly forty personnel. It was reachable on a single train line or by hopper.

Incident

ISRAn Grenada Connor experienced a vision warning her of an incoming attack on Cantor Station. The warning was routed through Linma Telecom in Boltzmann Station, where co-conspirators of Dr. Jerzy Grabowski altered the transmission to state the threat was to Harriot Crater, some 130 kilometers away. Grabowski asked other allies of the Biorg Project within Norca and Orgotek to take command of the forces deployed to Harriot, to ensure that they would be the first on the scene in case of problems.

Three biorgs and three Biorg Project staff from the Beaulac Clinic arrived at Cantor Station in the guise of new personnel; they were isolated from the rest of the base staff on the excuse that they were sick with some unknown illness, leading to the entire stations being quarantined. When the Aberrants attacked, the biorgs were able to kill two of them, but they and the rest of the station crew were slaughtered before the Orgotek-Norce force arrived from Harriot Crater.

Biorg Project rexes hidden among the Orgotek-Norca forces extracted the bioware from the dead biorgs and incinerated two of the three bodies. The third was spotted by Norca's Cesar Sweeney, forcing them to log its presence and take it back to the Beaulac Clinic for autopsy. A subsequent inquiry blamed the incident on unprofessional behavior by Cantor Station's communications officer and Relaford Santos, communications officer on Lunar Orbital Station Mockva, and Aeroc for not handling the "quarantine" correctly.

After the attack, Aeroc removed all the salvagable equipment. Both they and the Beaulac Clinic wanted the mining station shut down and sealed, as a memorial to the lives lost. (In truth, Grabowski just wanted to hide any remaining evidence of the biorg involvement.) Dr. Heinrich Mangels hypnotized Grenada Connor to cover up the redirection of the warning message.
