BastetCahlash

Bastet glyph for Cahlash.

Cahlash is the Bastet name for the Balance Wyrm, prior to its imprisonment and corruption.

Shapeshifter theology includes a tale of the Purifier deity who, through torturous imprisonment by his malevolent sibling, fell from grace and became the Wyrm of Corruption. The Bastet say that Cahlash, the original balanced Purifier of the Triat, still exists, faithfully serving his original purpose and courting wild Nala. The whole mess with Banes and other vile things that plague Gaia comes from the Asura, the living incarnation of Cahlash's hate against his brother Rajah and his despair from his loneliness. When Cahlash ripped the Asura from himself, he hoped that the Asura would destroy only the corrupted things of Rajah, but the Asura turned into a multitude of serpents that infested the world, leading to the creation of Banes, fomori, vampires, and other rotten things. All these things may seem to be different, but they all are Asura in his many faces.

Bastet can take Cahlash as their personal Jamak (Totem) without registering as Wyrm-tainted. Some of their Gifts draw upon Cahlash's power to destroy tainted and corrupted things or beings.
