CCP Games (formally CCP hf) is an industry-leading independent developer and publisher of EVE Online, a massively-multiplayer online role-playing game.

History[]

Founded in 1997 and privately held, CCP is recognized internationally as a pioneer of the single-server persistent universe architecture. EVE Online is played in nearly every country in the world with over 300,000 players. The company is headquartered in Reykjavík, Iceland with offices in London, England and Shanghai, China.

On November 11, 2006, CCP and White Wolf Publishing announced that the two companies would be merging to form a single company under CCP's name. The White Wolf division would handle traditional publishing (board games, card games, RPGs, etc.) while CCP would continue its focus on computer games, including the MMORPG World of Darkness.

White Wolf's Atlanta offices would become the offices of CCP North America, with WW President Mike Tinney becoming President of CCP NA.

Over time, as the market adjusted, most White Wolf employees would be transitioned to the MMO. White Wolf became less of a distinct division and more of an imprint for traditional RPG offerings, used by CCP division CCP Transmedia. By 2011, "White Wolf" consisted of two CCP employees, Eddy Webb and Rich Thomas, while the remainder of contributors are freelancers. Following Black Wednesday 2011, Rich Thomas left CCP/White Wolf and founded Onyx Path Publishing, who continued to publish "White Wolf" games under license with CCP.

In April of 2014, development on the World of Darkness MMORPG was cancelled and dozens of staffers laid off, many of them in the former White Wolf offices in Atlanta.

In November of 2015, Paradox Interactive purchased White Wolf and all related games and intellectual properties from CCP, including the unfinished World of Darkness MMORPG and all related assets. Onyx Path continues to publish new material under license from the games' new owner.
