Yurgen Kaneko, the Bull of the North, is a Dawn Caste Solar Exalted who leads the icewalker tribes.
Origin[]
Kaneko, an aging hunter of the Whistling Plains Elk tribe, left his tribe in RY 757 to seek an honorable death in the depth of winter. Instead, in the wilderness, he Exalted.[1][2] As the icewalkers had never been influenced by the Immaculate Order, they had no inherent fear of Anathema; Kaneko evaded the Wyld Hunt, and was able to unite multiple tribes behind his desire to form an empire. He and Zenith Caste Samea of the Blackwater Mammoth Tribe successfully conquered several small Northern states before turning their eyes toward the Scavenger Lands.[3]
In RY 761, the Bull's army - now including several outcaste Dragon-Blooded recruits - marched east against the Linowan, Roka-Jin, and Talinin peoples. The Linowan called on the Realm for aid, and the legions of House Tepet responded. At first, the icewalkers fared poorly, but the disappearance of the Scarlet Empress and the release of more Solar Exalted into Creation caused chaos for the Realm forces and added additional powerful Solars to the Bull's side. In Fallen Lapis, two desperate Sidereal Exalted exterminated the entire population of the city when they declared their allegiance to the Bull; Kaneko killed one of them in retaliation.[4] Finally, at the Battle of Futile Blood in RY 764, Kaneko's army defeated the retreating Tepet forces utterly.[5][4]
Now the Bull of the North has returned home to consolidate his gains and consider his next steps. His Eclipse Caste ally Fear-Eater has traveled on his behalf to several states, seeking non-aggression treaties, through with few takers.[5]
Circle[]
In addition to Samea and Fear-Eater, the Bull's circle includes Raneth of Diamond Hearth, Nalla Bloodaxe and Crimson Antler. Fear-Eater and Crimson Antler oversee the conquered Eastern territories, while Kaneko and Samea stay on the move.[6]Raneth has taken over the city of Plenilune on the River of Tears,[7] and Nalla has subverted Karn from within to give the empire a naval presence.[8]
