Black Branch Campground is a largely abandoned location near Maine's Mount Katahdin host to a spider web. Rangers refuse to patrol the area, claiming it to be outside their jurisdiction.
Occasionally campers go there anyway, presumably drawn by the privacy. These people tend to rather quickly disappear. Hungry spiders live in the trees, stumps, and caves. The latter, in particular, can grow to the size of dogs.
The local Gauntlet, due to the workings of the spiders, is rather powerful, and this causes people nearby to feel disconnected and hollow.
