Bindhi are a type of fetish unique to the Nagah.

Overview[]

A bindhi is a small jewel worn on the brow over the ajna, or third eye chakra. When properly worn and activated, these brow-jewels typically enhance thought or perception. Mystic bindhi simply need to be pressed to the third eye (about an inch above the bridge of the nose) where they remain in place of their own accord. Since there is only one third eye, only one bindhi may be worn at a time.

Indian iconography features many of the great gods and heroes wearing brow-jewels, which are among the most common fetishes in India and throughout the Middle Kingdom of Asia. Nagah are particularly fond of bindhi because they evoke the wereserpents' royal patronage in India. Only three bindhi are listed here as examples, but all manner of thought- and perception-enhancing brow-jewels may be created, discovered or won. The duration of any bindhi's effects is equal to one turn per success on the activation roll.

List of Bindhi[]

  • Bindhi of Surya - Level 1, Gnosis 6 - This brow-jewel is commonly made from topaz or diamond. When worn over the ajna and properly triggered, the bindhi shines with the pure golden light of the sun, illuminating any dark place with the light of full day. Vampires caught in the light of the Bindhi of Surya take damage as from full sunlight.
  • Bindhi of Disillusion - Level 3, Gnosis 8 - Commonly made from moonstone or onyx, these brow-jewels (when activated) reveal illusions to their wearer for what they are. While those around the wearer may still see a convincing illusion, the wearer of this fetish will see only the vaguest hint of the image and will know it for what it is.
  • Indomitable Eye - Level 5, Gnosis 9 - This bindhi may be made from any deep red gem; the most common is garnet. Indian myths speak of Kama, the god of love, trying to make Shiva fall in love with a young woman to distract him from his mediative and yogic practices. Shiva instead disintegrated Kama with one shining ray from this bindhi and returned to his meditations. Among the most powerful of the legendary brow-jewels of India, the Indomitable Eye, when activated, renders its wearer immune to all thought and emotion manipulating attacks while punishing those who would attempt such tactics. All difficulties for affecting the wearer of the Indomitable Eye with emotion control or thought control Gifts, Disciplines, magic or the like are raised to 10. Furthermore, the individual trying to use such magic suffers an agonizing headache and one level of bashing damage for every point of Gnosis, Arete or the like that she has. Thus, a Garou with a Gnosis of 6 trying to affect a Nagah wearing the Indomitable Eye with the Shadow Lords Gift: Obedience would make her roll against a difficulty of 10 and suffer 6 levels of bashing damage for her trouble.
