Bear is a totem spirit of the Fera.

Overview[]

Bear is wise in peace and fierce in war. He is a master of healing and mysticism, but the Garou mistrust him, for Bear’s true children are the Gurahl — werebears with no fondness for the Garou.

To the Gurahl, Bear has three faces/aspects: the Great She-Bear (Ursa Major), the Death Bear (Mangi, the Spirit Hunter) and the First Cub (Little Bear or Ursa Minor).

For the Hengeyokai, Bear has suffered much due to losing his children: the Okuma. The Sentai he chooses are treated with respect, but are often quietly overlooked, as their presence is a reminder of the shameful fate of the Okuma.

Traits & Ban[]

  • Background Cost: 5

Traits[]

  • Individual - Bear’s children gain a dot of Strength, can use the Gift: Mother’s Touch once per day, and can hibernate for up to three months at a time without need for food or water. Garou lose five points of temporary Honor renown (if they have it to lose), and reduce all Honor Renown awards by one point.
  • Pack - Bear’s packs can use three dots of Medicine, and are well-regarded by werebears.
  • Sentai - Bear's children gain three dice to Medicine dice pools and may hibernate for up to three months at a time without need for food or drink. Each sentai member's Strength is permanently increased by one, and each may use the Gift: Mother's Touch once per day. Finally, when a sentai member is wounded for the first time in any combat, all her packmates immediately gain two temporary Rage.
However, Bear's Eastern children must subtract one from any temporary Glory rewards they receive, due to the collective shame of the Courts.

Ban[]

Bear asks no specific behavior of his Garou. Petitioning for his favor has already cost them a great deal of standing among their own people.

Bear forbids his children to strike other hengeyokai with claw, beak or fang, fearing another race will be lost as were his first children. Even the Kumo are included in this ban, although Bear doesn't prohibit his children from using Gifts or weapons against their enemies.
