The Asnâm are a bloodline of the Daeva Clan of vampires.
Overview[]
Created by the Arab slaver Atiqua Azad, the Asnâm were created following the slaver's trip to a Tibetan temple in 1822. Azad himself claims he fought, discussed theology with, and consumed the goddess Palden Lhamo, a pagan goddess turned Buddhist. Following Azad's disappearance in 1904, stories circulated that he instead convinced the goddess to return to evil. The power to create the bloodline was a reward for the battle and/or consumption. A third story makes no pretentions of explaining the bloodline's origin, but states that Lhamo defeated and drove off her enemy.
This bloodline is largely composed of members of the Circle of the Crone, with a smattering of Invictus and Carthians.
Asnâm hyperfocus on the notion of godhood, worshipping their sires and being worshipped in turn by their childer.
Weakness[]
Once the bloodline manifests, the Sanam becomes an egomaniac. Twice per session, the Storyteller is permitted to grossly underplay the difficulty of a task, leading a Sanam’s player to think it’s much easier than it is. If a Sanam develops derangements, Narcissism and Megalomania are good picks. A phobia is most likely to be seen as an “Achilles’ heel”. Inferiority Complexes or Hysteria are difficult to pull off, but can be managed if the Sanam ruthlessly overcompensates, conceals or denies the problem.
