Ardan of Golden Lane, currently known as Ardan Lane, is a 7th generation Tremere born in Prague during the Dark Ages, who became the regent of the Ceoris chantry after the Gargoyle Revolt.
Biography[]
Combining personal ambition with a desire for responsibility, Ardan has risen through the ranks of the Tremere over the centuries of his unlife. Given charge of a secret chantry in Prague in the 12th century, Ardan now serves the Tremere well as an infiltrator, providing safety and financial support for the clan's efforts in Transylvania.
Rewarded with the command of Ceoris after the relocation of the Founder's slumbering body to Vienna, Ardan held that chantry until summoned to Vienna in the 1900s to assume the position of Tremere primogen. In Vienna, Ardan proves a capable primogen, demonstrating his skill at the political and social games and earning the respect of his fellow Tremere. His ability to plan for the unexpected as well as his willingness to undertake the search for the Incunabulum Kupalam drew the attention of his superiors in the clan.
When war broke out in Austria in 1914, Ardan once again moved to Ceoris at the behest of the Council of Seven, who felt his subtlety served them best in Eastern Europe. Unlike many kindred, Ardan did not flee Romania during the Nazi occupation. He maintained Ceoris as a haven for Tremere refugees (those who disagreed with serving Hitler's National Socialism) and continued his efforts to hold the chantry inviolate against both mortal enemies and hostile Tzimisce.
Ardan weathered the Communist regime in Romania, seeking alliances with some of the more tolerant (if such is possible) non-Sabbat Tzimisce whenever possible. After the fall of Ceaușescu, Ardan attempted to reassert Tremere power among the kindred of Romania. The recent reappearance of his sire, Celestyn, from his journeys among the Kuei-jin renewed Ardan’s dormant interest in affairs outside the insular world of Romanian Kindred.
Alternate Fate[]
Ardan Lane is killed by Christof Romuald in 1194, as a game objective of VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption video game. His Final Death is not canon, however.
