Amaterasu is the sun goddess of the Amatsukami.
Overview[]
Chief goddess of the Amatsukami, Amaterasu is also the ancestor of the Japanese imperial family. Once, during a crisis of confidence, she went into hiding in a cave, plunging the World into darkness; the other Amatsukami placed a mirror near the mouth of the cave, and lured her out with loud partying. Amaterasu saw herself in the mirror and realized how beautiful and powerful she was, and hasn't gone into hiding since.
Her guises in the modern World include photographer, dancer, and jeweler. She not only makes beautiful things, but also helps those around her see their own beauty and strength. Anything she turns her attention to becomes more refined by her touch, and her favorite project has always been Japan.
The emperors of Japan no longer claim Amaterasu as their mother, but she is invested in all her people. She is drawn to great artists and designers, and her Scions become engineers, doctors, and other such people whose work enriches their country.
