Amarr Harrold is a member of the Plain, a group of former Amish who are devoted to a philosophy of radical pacifism.

A smart kid who has taken his fair share of beatings from cops and white supremacists, Harrold has become something of a local celebrity for standing up against violence without raising a fist. He now plans to use that celebrity to keep up momentum against bloodshed, taking the movement against more dangerous enemies — the aforementioned cops, for example. For now, the rest of the Plain have succeeded in talking Harrold down for fear of the child’s death, but he grows ever more impatient.
