The Nochnytza are an all-female society of assassins within House Varich.

Not to be confused with Noctnitsa, though there are similarities, this secret order of House Varich consists entirely of selected female members of the House. Making no distinction between commoner and noble, they choose members based on merit, ability, and loyalty to house and society. They are a training ground for assassins who are dedicated to the survival of the House. Because no member may refuse a challenge, it is sometimes expedient to remove potential challengers before they become a threat.
Sometimes referred to euphemistically as the Eclipse of the Sun, the Nochnytza trace their foundation to just before the Sundering, when many of the Varich were fighting losing battles against Christianity and simultaneously struggling against Seelie Houses who refused to listen to their warnings of coming disaster.
These ladies do not always kill. Sometimes intimidation or subtle threats are enough to put trouble off its course. Many Nochnytza have mastered hand-to-hand techniques along with saber and whip. Some also learn the ways of poison. The leader of the group changes every year at the Winter Solstice. The current leader, a wilder rebel named Aleyeva, has started suggesting extending their services to other worthy houses.
