Alexis Hastings is a member of the Sons of Ether and their representative to the Council of Nine immediately prior to the Reckoning.
Biography[]
Hastings was born in 1953. She is described as a Welsh woman with dark hair and eyes.[1] Before she Awakened, she was a physical chemist with an interest in alchemy, one that only grew when she joined the Etherites. She focuses on the Spheres of Matter and Forces almost to the exclusion of all others, and has a somewhat irrational fondness for electricity.[2]
She lived full-time in Horizon starting in 1988, when she accompanied Julian Spence to the 58th Council.[3] She advocated to the Council for an "ambassador program," in which members of one Tradition would be initiated into another in order to better understand each other and build greater trust and collaboration.[4] She was one of the younger, more progressive mages favored by Porthos Fitz-Empress for the Council of Nine, and participated in a "strategy session" on January 14, 1996 after certain revelations regarding the Order of Hermes and the Consanguinity of Eternal Joy.[5]
She is the in-universe author of Beyond the Barriers: The Book of Worlds, with the assistance of several collaborators.[6]
At some point before the Reckoning, Hastings succeeded Spence as the Etherite representative to the Council. Hastings went missing when the Avatar Storm cut off Earth from the Umbra. A notice in Paradigma (Vol. 95, no. 3, 1999) sought any information about her whereabouts.[7] In the "Judgment" scenario of Ascension, Hastings' Avatar appears as a member of the Rogue Council.[8]
