Abombwe is a Discipline practised by the Akunanse Legacy of the Laibon and the mysterious Bonsam bloodline of the Dark Ages. Abombwe utilizes the vampire's close connection to and control over their own Beasts (and that of others), as well as channel the Beast's power for various purposes.

Overview[]

The Beast, for the Akunanse, is not so fearful as it is for European vampires. Akunanse are less burdened by knowledge of sin and its accompanying guilt, and thus are more receptive to the urges of their Beasts, demonstrating admirable control over it – a control that is learned through hard experience and communion in the wastes.

Abombwe is almost never taught to European Cainites, who usually have difficulty working with their Beast in such a manner. The Discipline's common use by "Laibon" in the Dark Medieval period strongly suggests that it was the Akunanse or Bonsam who came to Europe.

It resembles both Protean and the Beast-affecting powers of Animalism, betraying the Gangrel heritage of the Akunanse.

In Vampire: The Dark Ages 20th Anniversary Edition, Abombwe originates from the primal darkness. The Bonsam bloodline was first introduced here; the relationship between the Akunanse and the Bonsam (if there even is one) remains unclear.
