  • 300-1300: Golden Age of pagan magic through most of Europe. Wanes gradually as Christian missionaries win converts among European rulers.[3]
  • Constantine names Nova Roma the new capital of the Roman Empire.[4]
  • Germanic mass migration starts, some forming settlements in the Aix-la-Chapelle valley.[5]
  • By this time, as Rome decays, most of the Cult of Mercury's stronger spells can no longer be cast, since spells require so many dedicated priests and ritual components are expensive. The Cult begins to fall apart.[6]

  • Roman Emperor Diocletian declares Mithra a "protector of the Empire."[12]
  • An Ahl-i-Batin murshid visits Cairo and acquires an ancient papyrus detailing the ancient Transformative Arts of Khem. Taking the manuscript back to Samarkand, he begins teaching the art of al-Khem (literally "the Khem," later known as alchemy).[13]
