- Jonathan Sendak retires from the position of Bishopsgate Director. He is succeeded by his assistant Thomas Bateman, who begins re-opening previously closed parts of the hospital, like the East Wing.[4]
- Bend, Oregon's only remaining sawmill sells out, signally the death of the lumber industry in Deschutes County.[5]
