- The federal government of New Jersey creates the 1.1 million acre New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve in order to protect the Pine Barrens and its vast aquifer from development, after numerous failed attempts to establish industry there.[1]
- Scientists discover the Extinction Crater on the Yucatan peninsula.[2]
- The Angel Factory, a piece of Infrastructure in Berlin, is destroyed when one of its attending angels Falls. Another, Dame Seele, becomes an Exile.[3]
