- 1914-1918: The First World War.[1]
- 1915-1917: The Ottoman Empire systematically eradicates most of its Armenian minority.[2]
- 1916-1917: During the 12 Battles of the Isonzo in northern Italy, the weather begins to turn to the worst, resulting in more deaths from hypothermia on both sides than from enemy bullets. It results in the worst military defeat Italy ever suffered, with 275,000 prisoners made on that day.[3]
- The first great tank offensive in history begins at the Battle of Cambrai in northern France.[4]
- The United States enters the war after the sinking of the Lusitania.[5]
- Germans begin bombing London from airplanes instead of zeppelins, resulting in far more destruction on each sortie.[6]
- The Battle of Passchendaele claims half a million lives.[7]
- Using events among the mortal population as cover, the Carthian Movement of Russia stages a coup against the other Covenants.[8]
- The Balfour Declaration of the British Empire promises the jewish people a homeland in the former Ottoman province of Palestine.[9]
- Bishopsgate Director Edward Brake commits suicide, being succeeded in his position by his former assistant Donald Roe. Due to flagging resources, quality of life at the asylum begins to suffer.[10]
- Miners in Sittard, the Netherlands, uncover an Abyssal entity called the Null in the future site of State Mine Maurits. They attempt to seal the site.[11]
