- Diana Holmes is born to a wealthy Virginia landowner.[5]

- January 15: Because he missed yet another Arcanum meeting, a representative is sent to Reverend Jebidiah Specter Brown's residence at St. Basil's, only to find Brown had moved out the week previous. The conclusion drawn is that Brown was simply using the Arcanum for his own purposes and has now proceeded to the next part of his plan.[6]
July[]
- July 15: Jonathan Kelvin sends a letter to Benjamen Holmscroft, thanking him for the opportunity to be director of the Boston Chapter of the Arcanum. He additionally notes that an agent of his, Peter Carroll, claims to have seen Jebidiah Specter Brown in New York.[6]
August[]
- August 1: Jonathan Kelvin sends a telegram to Benjamen Holmscroft. Peter Carrol is now missing.[3]
