- A gold rush in the western United States creates a population boom in San Francisco. The city becomes an easy target for supernatural predators.[4]
- Bonnie Reed joins a company of settlers bound for California. Somewhere on the edge of Missouri, she is taken to Arcadia and made a Helldiver.[5]
