- The British government appoints a Governor General to supervise the East India Company for corruption.[1]
- The Sons of Liberty in Boston summon the consignees of the tea imports from Britain to state publicly why they couldn't refuse the British tea and return it to England. When none of the men show up, the Sons led a mob to riot near the Town House. Days later the Boston Tea Party occurs.[2]
