Events[]
- The Society of Leopold founds a Cenaculum in Amsterdam.[1]
- Era of Dutch Sovereignty in New York takes place from 1609-1664. Chester R. Van Gelding is born during this time. He eventually joins the Seventh Generation.[2]
- The Seventh Generation turns European colonists in America against the Native Americans. It also orchestrates witch hunts. [3]
- A Wendigo caern in the Adirondacks is seized by Silver Fangs and becomes the seat of House Wyrmfoe. [4]
- Kunio Ashida is taken by mages of Doissetep and trained by the Akashic Brotherhood.[5]
- The Flying Dutchman starts making appearances.[6]
- The Artificers' work in optics is very important to physics in this century.[7]
- Some believe that Sister Bernadette and Akrites Salonikas had an affair during his self-imposed exile in the Arctic.[8]
- The Seneca, Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga and Onondaga nations unite to form the Iroquois Confederacy.[9]
- Chinese organized crime has its roots in this century.[10]
- Benjamen Holmscroft inherits Vannever Hall, a former Order of Hermes Chantry.[11]
- The study of alchemy becomes more scientific and less metaphysical.[12] It is still mired in secrecy, symbolism and allegory, as can be seen with the treatise Twelve Keys.[13]
- Dvorec Čverdvinsk, a castle owned by Hermetic Master Anania Divraniya, is built in Clarion, Horizon.[14]
- It's unknown whether life-mages came to North America with the pilgrims.[15]
- House Verditius joins House Ex Miscellanea.[16]
- This century and the next sees the rise of a new type of scholar: the artist-engineer.[17]
- The increasing European hegemony allows the Hippocratic Circle to contact "lost" Cosians elsewhere in the world in order to become a truly global organization.[18]
- The Wu Lung offer the emperor the magic and martial abilities to stop the Shaolin. The Wu Lung help the emperor storm the Shaolin Temple (coincidentally where the Akashic Brotherhood also train), shattering the Akashics' power in China and creating further enmity between the two societies.[19]
- The Wu Lung's Phoenix Empress shares her insights into Life magic with a small group of female students; these Phoenixes become the first female members of the organization.[20]
- Hermetic John Dee and Dreamspeaker Edward Kelly have a long and profitable partnership.[21]
- Madzimbabwe Courts are divided on how to respond to European encroachment.[22]
Early 1600s[]
- The Ananasi known as Tomas Hogarth is known to have lived since at least this time period, and may have been around well before that.[23]
Mid-1600s[]
- The Order of Reason falls into their own civil war, and no longer have anything that can seriously be called a central leadership.[25]
Late 1600s[]
- Valka Great-thorn, a warrior woman of the Get of Fenris, simultaneously attacked Wyrm and Uktena forces, who were fighting over the Caern of the Sentinel in New York State. Weakened from their bloody battle, both the Uktena and the Wyrm forces lost. The Get took over the Caern.[26]
