- Baghdad is attacked by the Mongols. Baha al-Din Zuhayr (who is either an Ahl-i-Batin or Taftâni scholar) tries to mitigate the damage, but his approach is too subtle and he is gutted and hung.[1] The city is sacked by the Mongols, which further depletes the Astral Reaches.[2] This event marks the end of the Islamic Golden Age.
- Pope Alexander IV explicitly forbids the Papal Inquisition from investigating charges of witchcraft.[3]
- Florence expels the Ghibellines, pledging itself to support the papacy.[4]
