- Shagaret al-Durr, the first and only sultana of Egypt, is deposed by her rivals, who beat her and throw her in the moat. Umm al-Mawt Embraces her before she drowns.[2]
1258 CE[]
- Baghdad is attacked by the Mongols. Baha al-Din Zuhayr (who is either an Ahl-i-Batin or Taftâni scholar) tries to mitigate the damage, but his approach is too subtle and he is gutted and hung.[3] The city is sacked by the Mongols, which further depletes the Astral Reaches.[4] This event marks the end of the Islamic Golden Age.
- Pope Alexander IV explicitly forbids the Papal Inquisition from investigating charges of witchcraft.[5]
- Florence expels the Ghibellines, pledging itself to support the papacy.[6]
